About Glenavon House

Proud to be a family owned and run hotel, the Glenavon House offers modern accommodation in Auchterader’s town centre, right in the heart of the stunning Perthshire countryside.

The rooms have an elegant but understated feel to them, and feature TV’s with freeview channels, work desks, telephones, tea/coffee stations and hairdryers.

Animal lovers will be happy to learn that pets are allowed, and techies happy that Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the property.

The bar, coffee lounge and restaurant are all integrated and are on the ground floor. Guests can sit by the roaring fire with a drink in hand, or order a full meal at the restaurant, which serves hearty Scottish dishes with pride.

Perthshire holds some of the most attractive landscapes in Scotland, and there are several scenic drives from Glenavon House. The immaculate Gleneagles Golf Club, often voted best in the world, is just 2.3 miles from the hotel.

Polite and helpful staff

The hotel staff's positive and friendly attitude was probably what most impressed guest about Glendevon. They were also described as exceptionally polite and always willing to go the extra mile to help guests out.

Rooms spotlessly clean

Again and again guests mentioned that, whatever issues they may have had with the room, one of them certainly wasn't cleanliness. The rooms were described as spotlessly clean.

Very good value

The area is of course known for Gleneagles Golf Club and its associated hotel. The golf club is regarded by many as the best in the world, and the its hotel very luxurious. With this in mind, many guests were just happy to be able to find clean and adequate accommodation in the area at a price they didn't break the bank. Many state that they found this at Glendevon.

Negative Reviews

Rooms may need updating

This was perhaps the most common guest complaint. While admittedly kept very clean, the rooms, and the hotel in general, were described as a little “tired”. Many guests felt that a major update was long overdue.

Weekend nights a bit noisy

Although not often mentioned some did say that the bar downstairs has live entertainment on the weekends, and it tends to be a bit noisy, disturbing their sleep. If staying on the weekends it may be better to be in the bar…making the noise.

Problems with the showers

Several guests had a variety of problems with their showers that prevented them from having a truly comfortable shower. The problems were varied, but included the water temperature having to be set too hot, and broken fixtures resulting in them only being appropriate for very little people.
