Positive Reviews

The hotel is very clean

Spotlessly clean with bedding and towels changed daily, it is hard to appreciate that from this quiet room in the heart of Amsterdam, one of Europe’s most vibrant nightlife explosions is just a few yards away.

Legendary breakfast

Buffet in style, there is plenty of everything and they seem to cater for virtually all European tastes and flights of fancy with ease.

Great staff

There’s nothing austere or ‘snooty’ about this lot. They can’t do enough to help and to put you at ease. They’ll direct you to wherever you want to go and make suggestions if you haven’t got the slightest idea. With nearly 500 rooms, you could understand if the approach was polite but impersonal but, no! The staff make the stay truly memorable.

Negative Reviews

Noisy air conditioning

If you thought that this sort of thing was confined to elderly UK hotels, think again! You can disable the air conditioning but with obvious results. Anyhow, even if you turn it off, it then embarks on a repertoire of other noises. All in all, this isn’t conducive to a good night’s sleep.

Some drab rooms

They can be drab which is surprising given the approach to the hotel, the impressive facilities and the general feel of the place. It doesn’t end with drabness, though. There is a damp sort of smell which hangs around, a bit like an uninvited guest!

Poor housekeeping spoils the break

Cleanliness isn’t up to scratch Dirty grouting around bath areas, a smell of ‘you know what’ in the sink and a vacuum cleaner that is obviously on its last legs, means the carpets still need cleaning. Little things that add up to major dissatisfaction. Even the cheapest and most basic B+B can be spotlessly clean. It costs nothing.
